Personal Competences represent a set of attitudes, skills and values that enable practitioners to work effectively and contribute positively to their organizations, clients and profession. These competencies range from being good communicators, to demonstrating their flexible and positive attitude in an ever-changing environment, as well having suitable technical qualifications against the core skill they are providing.
Personal Competencies need to extend beyond their core skills requirements, as we have today innumerable aspects of associated Environmental and Safety Legislation to also comply with, if the work is to be carried out in a suitable and safe manner. This becomes a larger issue with the impact of cross-border trading under the Services Directive, which makes it imperative to engage professional installers and maintainers who can demonstrate that they employ certificated personnel with relevant up to date competencies.
